Make it a good habit
I'd better begin blogging (like again?!) from now lest I lose track of how i actually survived this mundane lazy lifestyle that I am leading. I would have been an awesome blogger should i had the ability to put what i usually bitch about people into words, as in texts (you get my drift). That aside, just today, at about 4am, this incident struck me that small things like that have to be shared with people because although mundane, I realise my life is filled with much informative happenings each day. And you guessed it right, I was inspired to blog again! So the story goes.... Me and T drove into JB to pump some gas while I satisfied my raging cravings for some lok lok. Halfway through, T started driving with both hands which I found unusual (usually drives with 1 hand), and the car was moving from side to side, and I assumed was him trying to play a fool like he always did. But NO! it wasn't him fooling around. He complained that the steering wheel was shifting left and he had to constantly adjust it right to keep the vehicle straight. So, we parked at the petrol kiosk and realised there were tiny holes on the front left tyre. Now this is where the informative part comes in. I did not have my phone / camera with me, thus, this will be how a flat tyre would look like. And that was how our tyre looked like initially. Probably just a slit or a few holes. Can last you a few miles more if you pump some air into it. (Sidenote: I remembered driving a secondary school mate once and I had to pump the tyres but am totally clueless. Needless to say he was just as lost, he don't even drive! Gasp! Anyway, from what the uncle taught me, just set the machine, whatever you call it to about 220 - 250 and pump the tyres til that damn machine gives out a loud beep to signal you to stop.Easy!) Back to the story. So, we were at JB at 4am, no spare tyres, no gum/tape/whatever you call it to seal the holes, no workshops opened, and us stranded. Would you: 1) stay in JB till the workshops open for business 2) immediately drive back to sinagpore or as long as the tyre last you We chose option 2, immediately pumped the tyres and drove back to Singapore, thinking things would be much easier in Singapore should we need a tow truck to get the car off. Finally, customs were cleared and we drove on for about 10 minutes before the tyres totally died on us. For the first time in our lives, we pulled up at the road shoulder, coincidentally, somewhere near the expressway cameras. I actually told T to park it right under the camera just so it could detect us, but he obviously did not do so. Instead, we parked about 8m away from it. Again, what would you do at this point of time with a phone that is almost going flat? 1) Call 100 and get a tow truck company's number 2) Text a friend and get them to come help 3) Call EMAS 0 Comments:
